Burn piles behind Selby Park and the West Bench water reservoir will be ignited today by RDOS staff.

2024 FEB 28

RDOS Parks team is igniting burn piles between Selby Park and the West Bench water tower. This is part of the wildfire risk reduction work the RDOS has recently carried out on the RDOS-owned parcel of land near the water tower.

The key to protecting Greater West Bench in the event of a wildfire is FireSmarted private properties. Please contact Hayden Zahrawi at the RDOS for more information. hzahrawi@rdos.bc.ca

The Greater West Bench FREE curbside chipping event will be on May 21. Now is a great time to start working on FireSmarting your home and yard.

Wildfire risk reduction work in Greater West Bench (Electoral Area “F”)

The Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) has begun wildfire risk reduction work at two Regional District properties in the Greater West Bench area in Electoral Area “F”.

Over the next few weeks, RDOS staff will be working at Selby Park and the West Bench Reservoir site. The scope of the fuel modification includes the removal of dead trees and ladder fuels from the properties.
