If you live in the Greater West Bench, you most likely know that Bridge #1 has undergone some recent repair. The remaining work is scheduled for October 24. The bridge will be closed. I inquired about closing the bridge on election day, here is the response from AIM's Project Manager, Roderick Keetch.
Unfortunately, this was the only day available for the pavers to complete works here based on a number of factors.
There is a reasonable vehicle detour on Sage mesa for constituents. The closure will also leave a solid block of hours with access as polling stations are open until 7 pm, and the bridge will be open by 4pm at the latest. While I do understand this may cause some inconvenience, it is absolutely necessary that we get the approach paving work completed and tied into all the decking and substructure work we have recently completed.
Any delay to the paving schedule has the potential to have the work cancelled due to weather if it gets pushed back to the next available opening.
