March 29, 2021 update from ALERT (Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team)

  • If you have pets or livestock wildfire concerns and you need a bit of help developing your Emergency Plan, ALERT (Animal Lifeline Emergency Response Team) can assist you.

  • Give them a call or email and they will come and chat with you about preparing your Emergency Plan for the animals in your care.

  • There is no charge for this service and you will feel better knowing that you've got that covered.

Invite your neighbours!

Hi friends.

So nice to see more and more people out and about enjoying the warmer weather. While you are prepping your yard for summer, keep in mind FireSmart guidelines. There is an excellent FireSmart manual (PDF) that you can download below.

Or start with these 10 Tips .

Interested in helping Greater West Bench to become a recognized Fire Smart Neighbourhood? Here is more about the program. PS - Husula Highlands was recognized in 2018. Faulder and Meadow Valley were recognized in 2019. Let me know if you'd like to chat further. We have a few volunteers who are also interested.

However, the most important first step is that we start in our own backyards. This is definitely an effort that gains a greater benefit due to the cumulative impact of us all fire smarting our own properties.

Have a great week!

Riley
