Max Lake faces a number of challenges primarily related to human impacts that negatively affect the area. The RDOS with Covenant partners, together with PIB, have collaborated in efforts to secure funding to help address the issue. The Habitat Conservation Trust Fund grant program is a multi-year funding opportunity for a three phased project.
In brief, if the funding is granted, the first year will be ecological assessments and inventories that will inform management objectives to improve the ecological health/sustainability of the area. The second year will focus on development and delivery of the Management Plan. The third year will focus on impact reduction related to access and stewardship.
