Here are some of the Q&As from the Assent Voting Information page on the Regional Connections website.
If the majority of votes are in favour of the question, the vote passes. If the majority are opposed to the question, the vote fails. There is no minimum number of votes that must be cast.
To qualify to be a Resident Elector, you must be:
18 years of age or older at the time of voting
A Canadian citizen
A resident of BC for at least 6 months
A resident of the proposed service area
Not disqualified from voting
Able to provide at least 2 pieces of identification proving residence, one with signature (current and valid)
To qualify to be a Non-Resident Property Elector (NRPE), you must:
Be 18 years of age at the time of voting
Be a Canadian citizen
Be a resident of BC for 6 months
Be a registered owner of property in the service area for at least 30 days
Only register for one parcel in the service area as an NRPE (fill out the applicable form), only one NRPE may register per parcel
Have the written consent of majority of registered owners (on applicable form)
Be able to provide at least 2 pieces of ID, one with a signature (current and valid)
Can renters vote?
Yes, if they qualify as a resident elector.
