21 08 30 - Sharing my update on the Skaha Creek Fire

BC Wildfire Services (BCWS) has indicated the fire will be looked after by the Okanagan Complex IMT starting tomorrow.

There are no homes or structures impacted at this time, and there has been no recommendation for Alerts or Orders at this time. Skaha Hills is the closest community to the fire, and PIB has a strong evacuation plan and they have done a cursory scan of rooms in the area. IH and FNHA are checking their registries for patients with care plans to start planning for an evacuation if needed, and they will follow their process to provide support.

Fire Dispatch was getting an increased number of concerned calls, and they are directing people to look for information on BCWS social media pages, and the RDOS.

For reliable and current information:

Take care and check in on one another. As always, have your emergency bag ready, car(s) filled w gas, pets prepared. There is no immediate threat from the Skaha Creek fire but it is just good practice. Also know that there is a large and interconnected team at the RDOS Emergency Operations Centre. Lots of expert eyes on this who will keep us all posted if the situation escalates.

Thank you, Riley
